Back in 1983, Jack Valenti testified to Congress about the evils of the VCR. He said, in a quote now infamous, “I say to you that the VCR is to the American film producer and the American public as the Boston strangler is to the woman home alone.”

I just checked the all-time highest grossing movies list. If I count correctly, 18 of the top 25 were released in 1990 or latter.
