Half Birthday
11 Mar 2010, 21:35
I realized this afternoon that it was my half birthday. A quarter of the way through my fourth decade, I am now 32.5 years old.
Don’t tell Becky, but I think that I am in love with Alison Krauss. So, in honor of my half birthday, a few lyrics from my favorite song of the moment, “Gravity,” from the album Lonely Runs Both Ways, by Alison Krauss & Union Station. Seems appropriate. And so, so good:
I left home when I was seventeen
I just grew tired of falling down
And I’m sure I was told
The allure of the road
Would be all I foundAnd all the answers that I started with
Turned out questions in the end
So years roll on by
And just like the sky
The road never ends(Chorus:)
And the people who love me still ask me
When are you coming back to town
And I answer quite frankly
When they stop building roads
And all God needs is gravity to hold me down
